Demolition of solid concrete foundations of a abandoned pipeline in a remote area in Japan.
Dense, impassable vegetation prohibited the use of excavators and large demolition machines or equipment requiring transporters or generators.
Darda rock and concrete splitters, by contrast, were sufficiently compact to enable them to be transported to the site without any problem. The splitting cylinders were powered by a diesel-engine unit, enabling them to be used independently.
The foundations were initially split horizontally, then vertically, producing small easily transportable sections. In a difficult situation like this, the Darda method has proved to be an economical, timesaving option.
